The Privacy Policy applies to EMCE products, websites or online or mobile applications that refer to or link to the Privacy Policy (collectively, our “Service”). Information you provide to us

We collect information about you when you input it into the Service or otherwise provide it directly to us.

  • Account and Profile Information: We collect information about you when you register for an account, create or modify your profile, set preferences, sign-up for or make purchases through the Service. We keep track of your preferences when you select settings within the Service.

  • Content you provide through our products: The Service include the EMCE products you use, where we collect and store content that you enter, save, and upload. This content includes any information about you that you may choose to include. Examples of content we collect and store include: a personalized profile, skill and competency evaluations (for yourself, peers, or preceptors), file attachments, calendar events, tasks, class assignments, and any feedback you provide to us.

  • Content you provide through our websites: The Service also include our websites owned or operated by us. We collect other content that you submit to these websites, which include social media or social networking websites operated by us.

  • Information you provide through our support channels: The Service also include our customer support, where you may choose to submit information regarding a problem you are experiencing with the Service. When you open a support ticket, speak to one of our representatives directly or otherwise engage with our support team, you will be asked to provide contact information, a summary of the problem you are experiencing, and any other documentation, screenshots or information that would be helpful in resolving the issue.

  • Payment Information: We collect certain payment and billing information when you register for certain paid Service. You might also provide payment information, such as payment card details, which we collect via secure payment processing services.

Information we collect automatically when you use the Service

In addition to the information you provide, we may collect information about your use of our Service through software on your device and other means. For example, we may collect:

  • Device information: Information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other devices you use to access the Service, such as your hardware model, and other unique device identifiers, IP address, browser type and version, referral source, website navigation, operating system version, connection type and settings of the device you use to access the Service. How much of this information we collect depends on the type and settings of the device you use to access the Service.

  • Log information: such as the time and duration of your use of the Service, search query terms you enter through the Service. Information from cookies and other tracking technology–information may be stored in cookies that have been set on your device. When you view our site we might store some information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a “cookie” or similar file. Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your hard drive, not on our site. Cookies do not spy on you or otherwise invade your privacy, and they cannot invade your hard drive and steal information. Rather, they help you navigate a web site as easily as possible. Information we receive from other sources

We receive information about you from other Service users, from third-party services, from our related companies, and from our business and channel partners.

  • Other users of the Service: Other users of our Service will provide information about you when they submit content through the Service.

  • Other services you link to your account: We receive information about you when you integrate or link a third-party service with our Service. For example, if you create an account or log into the Service using your Google credentials, we receive your name and email address as permitted by your Google profile settings in order to authenticate you. You may also integrate our Service with other services you use, such as to allow you to access, store, share and edit certain content from a third-party through our Service. For example, you may authorize our Service to access, display and store files from a third-party document-sharing service within the Service interface.

  • Other Partners: We receive information about you and your activities on and off the Service from third-party partners, such as commercial vendors who may provide us with information about your interest in and engagement with, our Service and online advertisements.

How We Use Your Information

How we use the information we collect depends in part on which Service you use, how you use them, and any preferences you have communicated to us. Below are the specific purposes for which we use the information we collect about you.

  • To provide the Service and personalize your experience: We use information about you to provide the Service to you, including to process transactions with you, authenticate you when you log in, provide customer support, and operate and maintain the Service. For example, we use the name and picture you provide in your account to identify you to other Service users

  • For research and development: We are always looking for ways to make our Service smarter, faster, secure, integrated, and useful to you. We use collective learnings about how people use our Service and feedback provided directly to us to troubleshoot and to identify trends, usage, activity patterns and areas for integration and improvement of the Service. In some cases, we apply these learnings across our Service to improve and develop similar features or to better integrate the services you use. We also test and analyze certain new features with some users before rolling the feature out to all users.

  • To inform your education program: We use the content entered by you other users of our Service to keep programs updated about your progress and to ensure that you have met their graduation requirements. Your program director, medical director, program administrators, and instructors, which have been assigned to your class, are able to view content that you have entered as well as content that has been entered about you by other users of our Service.

  • To inform the accreditation and industry professionals: We will use aggregated and anonymized data and trends and the experience of our customers to inform the accreditation and educational organizations with respect to certification and related requirements. To communicate with you about the Service: We use your contact information to send transactional communications via email and within the Service, including confirming your purchases, responding to your comments, questions and requests, providing customer support, and sending you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages. We also provide tailored communications based on your activity and interactions with us. These communications are part of the Service and generally you cannot opt out of them. If an opt out is available, you will find that option within the communication itself or in your account settings.

  • To market and promote the Service: We use your contact information and information about how you use the Service to send promotional communications that may be of specific interest to you. These communications are aimed at driving engagement and maximizing what you get out of the Service, including information about new features, survey requests, newsletters, and events we think may be of interest to you. We also communicate with you about new product offers, promotions and contests. You can control whether you receive these communications as described below under “Opt-out of communications.”

  • Customer support: We use your information to resolve technical issues you encounter, to respond to your requests for assistance, to analyze crash information, and to repair and improve the Service. For safety and security: We use information about you and your Service use to verify accounts and activity, to monitor suspicious or fraudulent activity and to identify violations of Service policies.

  • To protect our legitimate business interests and legal rights: Where required by law or where we believe it is necessary to protect our legal rights, interests and the interests of others, we use information about you in connection with legal claims, compliance, regulatory, and audit functions, and disclosures in connection with the acquisition, merger or sale of a business.

  • With your consent: We use information about you where you have given us consent to do so for a specific purpose not listed above. For example, we may publish testimonials or featured customer stories to promote the Service, with your permission.

If you have consented to our use of information about you for a specific purpose, you have the right to change your mind at any time, but this will not affect any processing that has already taken place. Where we are using your information because we or a third party (e.g. your employer) have a legitimate interest to do so, you have the right to object to that use though, in some cases, this may mean no longer using the Service.

We will not disclose your information to third parties for their own independent marketing or business purposes without your consent. However, we may disclose your information to our affiliates and third party service providers working for us or providing services on our behalf. These entities are limited in their ability to use your information for purposes other than providing services for us.

Managing information, Opting Out, Access and Deletion

You have the right to request a copy of your information, to object to our use of your information (including for marketing purposes), to request the deletion or restriction of your information, or to request your information in a structured, electronic format. You can exercise some of the choices by logging into the Service and using features available within the Service or your account.

  • Deactivating your account
  • Deleting your information from your account
  • Using browser-based cookie controls

We strive to keep our records updated and accurate with your latest information. You are responsible to ensure that the information or data you provide from time to time is correct, current and updated and you have all the rights, permissions and consent to provide such information or data.

At any time, you may object to the processing of your Personal Data, on legitimate grounds, except if otherwise permitted by applicable law. If you believe your right to privacy granted by applicable data protection laws has been infringed upon, please let us know.

Deletion of certain information or withdrawal of consents may lead to cancellation of your registration with us or your access to our Service. Additionally, we may not be able to process your request of correction, updating or deletion, in case the same is not supported by valid documents or data retention if required by the applicable law or law enforcement requests or under any judicial proceedings or it is extremely difficult to implement (such as requests related to backup copies or if a new system is required to process the request or change of technical design) or risks the privacy of other users.

Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites

Our site contains links to sites whose information practices may be different than ours. Visitors should consult the sites’ privacy notices as we have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties.

This site sometimes may offer content that is sponsored by identified third parties. By virtue of these relationships, the third parties may obtain personally identifiable information that visitors voluntarily submit to participate in the site activity. We have no control over these third parties’ use of this information.

Security

The information in our custody and control is protected by adherence to reasonable security procedures in order to safeguard against unauthorized access. While there is no such things as “perfect security” on the internet, we will take all reasonable measures to insure the safety of your Personal Data. We cannot guarantee, however that data, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, is absolutely safe from intrusion by others. We apply encryption or other appropriate security controls to protect Personal Data when transmitted by us.

Our website, applications and portals have industry standard security precautions in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of information which is in our environment. Your information or data will primarily be stored in electronic form. However, certain data can also be stored in physical form.

We may enter into agreement with third parties to collect, store, process your information or data, such as credit card processing, but under full compliance with applicable laws. These third parties may have their own security standards to safeguard your information or data and we will require such third parties to adopt reasonable security standards to safeguard your information / data on commercially reasonable basis.

We have taken appropriate steps for the security and protection of all our digital platforms including internal applications, however, we shall not be responsible for any breach of security or the disclosure of Personal Data for reasons outside our control, such as hacking, social engineering, cyber terrorism, espionage by third parties, or any events by way of force majeure such as sabotage, fire, flood, explosion, acts of God, civil commotion, strikes or industrial action of any kind, riots, insurrection, war, acts of government.

Data Retention

We take reasonable steps to ensure that we retain information about you only for so long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required under any contract or by applicable law.

Our policy towards children

The Service is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please let us know.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

It is important that you check back often for updates to the Privacy Policy. If we update the Privacy Policy we will let you know about changes we consider being material by placing a note on relevant parts of the Service. By accessing or using our Service after we have placed such a notice, you consent to the new practice(s) identified in the update. The most current version of the Privacy Policy will always be available here. We encourage you to review our privacy policy whenever you use the Service to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.
